Attention Strathmore Football Club Member, Life Member, Player, Sponsor and Supporter
RE: OBJECTION TO REQUEST FOR SOLE TENANCY OF CROSS KEYS RESERVE OR ANY OTHER RESERVE
Dear all,
Our sister club, Strathmore Cricket Club needs your help. Please find below a request for help from SCC’s Presdient, Allison Dodd.
Dear SFC
I hope this email finds you well.
WE NEED YOUR HELP.
You may be aware of the current situation unfolding with several soccer clubs in the Moonee Valley Municipality applying to the Moonee Valley Council for SOLE TENANCY of sporting fields, some of which directly affect Strathmore Cricket Club.
The proposal made to Council from Essendon Royals Soccer Club directly impacts our use of Cross Keys Reserve, and more broadly, our use of Strathnaver Reserve.
Whilst the proposal has been made by the Royals, there are 6 other soccer clubs (including FC Strathmore who we co-tenant with at Strathnaver) in the municipality who are pushing this proposal aggressively to obtain 12-month access to the grounds and pavilions.
Strathmore Cricket Club is committed to joint tenancy of the sporting fields that benefit all community members. Should this proposal be approved, not only will we lose our second turf wicket and 2 grounds that we have used for more than 30 years for our juniors and seniors, but you risk not being able to walk your dog or go for a run at these grounds. The Royal’s propose to erect a 2meter high fence around Cross Keys!
This is NOT a cricket issue, this is a COMMUNITY issue. This proposal has the potential to mean your kids won’t have access to open space where they can kick the footy, it will also impact any pre-season training which we all know is hard enough to facilitate on limited grounds as it is.
How can you help?
Attached is a document that outlines a number of different reasons why this proposal should not be approved. I need each and every one of you to email the councillors who are voting on this proposal outlining, in your own words why you object to this proposal. You can copy and paste some of the dot points in the attached document.
All councillor’s names and email addresses are in the document, please make sure you send your email to EVERY councillor. You must include your name and email address for your letter to be considered.
Your letter needs to be received by the councillors no later than JUNE 6th.
I can’t stress enough that we as a club and the broader community need to be vocal and voice our objection.
If you need any help or have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly.
Thanks so much
Regards,
Allison Dodd
